PARIS, March 10 (Reuters) – Louis Vuitton showcased its fall collection during a virtual tour of the Louvre museum on Wednesday, closing Paris Fashion Week’s online shows by framing motifs echoing the sculptures on display.

Vuitton was among several luxury brands that paid tribute to cultural institutions shuttered by the pandemic, which also suspended live shows.

Christian Dior, which like Vuitton is owned by the LVMH conglomerate (LVMH.PA), earlier this week filmed his own show at the 17th-century Palace of Versailles.

The Vuitton show of ruffled skirts and futuristic, oversized jackets was accompanied by a soundtrack by Daft Punk, just weeks after the famous French electronic music duo announced their separation.

The models wore boots with a cowboy brim, with side zippers.

Vuitton’s monogrammed handbags featured images of Greco-Roman busts and lithographs inspired by the etchings of Italian artist Piero Fornasetti. Another bag took the form of a Roman-style coin.
