TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – After attracting more than 100,000 tourists in less than a month, Jourdeness Castle in Chiayi County will hold a Halloween event on October 29-30, charging full price for tickets to from November 1.
According to the Facebook of the Château de Jourdeness page, the two-day family-friendly Halloween event will include activities such as trick-or-treating, carnival parades, markets, costume parties and a charity auction. Each day, the attraction will distribute 1,000 goody sets consisting of a pumpkin bucket and a Halloween-themed sticker to children under 12.
Currently, the Chateau de Jourdeness is still operating as a trial and charges an entrance fee of NT$100 (US$3.12) for visitors over 7 years old. From November 1, adult tickets will cost NT$300 while children under 12 are free.
After its opening on October 1, Château de Jourdeness, hailed as “Taiwan’s Versailles Palace”, quickly became a hot topic in Taiwan for its fountains, baroque verandas and ornate ceilings. The new attraction was so popular that local residents reported difficulty registering for a chance to visit due to ticket sales, prompting the Chiayi County Culture and Tourism Bureau to take arrangements with the attraction operator to admit additional visitors.
Apart from its architecture, garden and events, Château de Jourdeness is also popular for its ideal location. It is within a 30-minute drive from other tourist attractions in Chiayi County such as Xingang, Minxiong and Dalin Old Street.
