On the occasion of the launch of the annual campaign against breast cancer, the Eiffel Tower will light up in pink.
On October 1, 2022, the Eiffel Tower will light up in pink, as every year since 2014. With the active support of the City of Paris, the launch of “Pink October”, the major information and awareness campaign on the breast cancer, will take place on the evening of October 1, at the Eiffel Tower. It will be decorated with special projections and lit entirely in pink. A color that perfectly suits the Iron Lady!
Awareness month launch
On this occasion, the Pink Ribbon Foundation will inaugurate its awareness campaign organized throughout the month of October, on the theme of “heroines”, accompanied by its strong message: “Be the heroine of your life”. For the 2022 edition, which will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pink Ribbon, the Foundation is bringing together a group of 30 women personally affected by the disease in Paris on Saturday October 1, 2022.
With choreography by Mehdi Kerkouche and music by the DJ duo Ofenbach, these women united against breast cancer will parade on a catwalk on the Trocadéro fountains in front of the Eiffel Tower at 8 p.m., before it lights up in pink. Three of them are well-known personalities, whose identities will be revealed during the event.
The pink illumination will last throughout the evening of October 1, replacing the usual golden lighting, until the Eiffel Tower goes out at 11:45 p.m. There will always be sparkles, a favorite element of the Parisian sky, during the first five minutes of each hour.
Prevention and screening
Organized by the Pink Ribbon Foundation, the annual “Pink October” campaign is an opportunity to highlight the fight against breast cancer for a whole month: information, prevention, early detection… Many initiatives and events through France are offered to women, thanks to the many actors mobilized. It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of doctors and researchers, as well as all those involved in the fight against breast cancer. The “Pink Ribbon” Trophies reward and support initiatives and innovations in all fields.
With 60,000 new cases per year in France, breast cancer remains the leading female cancer and the deadliest. When detected at an early stage, 9 out of 10 women recover within 5 years, hence the enormous importance of prevention.
