The Palace of Versailles will host the Rave in the Hall of Mirrors, with French electro DJs

Prepare to descend like Marie-Antoinette: the Palace of Versailles is hosting a rave. And unlike the queen’s baroque taste, this party is actually affordable.

For the modest sum of 22 euros, fans of French history and electronic music can access “Versailles Électro”, during which a group of DJs will perform in the palace’s famous Hall of Mirrors. The manicured gardens adjoining the hall will be transformed into a giant dance floor for attendees.

The party is partly organized by DJ and former Daft Punk manager, Busy P, and his label, Ed Banger Records. The label occupies a prominent place in the French electro scene, and will bring with it members Breakbot x Irfane, Myd, and So Me.

Customers also have the option to upgrade their experience, with multiple tiers of VIP tickets. The highest, priced at 160 euros, promises access to a private lounge, an all-you-can-eat buffet and a few glasses of champagne. Why not? There’s no better place to go fat than Versailles.

What would Louis XIV think of using his Xanadu in this way? He would be in it, according to the organizers of the event. “This timeless evening is part of the Versailles tradition of the first festivals of the time of the Sun King and also echoes Versailles, the cradle of French electro”, they declared, by planet alone.

If Sofia Coppola’s depiction of the late queen in Marie Antionette is something to base that on, she would have been in it too.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Find out more here.
